PALÉE 2008-2011
Plan of action for the local economy and employment

Word from the president

We are very proud to present to you the 2008-2011 Plan of action for the local economy and employment (Plan d’action local pour l’économie et l’emploi (PALÉE) 2008-2011) of the borough of LaSalle. This plan is the result of a full year of sustained labour during which many participants from our milieu have been solicited. Their response was very positive which is reflected in the final result.

LaSalle is facing major issues of different orders: economic, demographic and structural. The pressures from emerging countries, the transition toward a new economy, the environmental concerns, manpower shortages, the welcoming of new immigrants, the ageing of our population, and the revamping of our infrastructures are only some of the issues our community has to address. The future of our development can be very positive because LaSalle possesses many advantages. However, this implies an immediate engagement and a collective will to work together towards the same end.

Thus we have proposed from the beginning of the application of PALEE to approach the development of LaSalle from a lasting perspective of innovation, because in order to confront these present issues in a proactive and effective manner we are convinced that it is essential that we do things differently. The five major orientations proposed in the PALEE are answers to this challenge and constitute an effective line of action to which all socio-economic intervening parties can refer. We therefore wager that, together, we can transform LaSalle into an innovative milieu envied by all.

Of course, the achievement of the expected results requires an investment in energy, time, and resources. This is the reason why we propose a perspective over a 20 year period all the while insuring that annual plans and courses of action progressively contribute to attaining concrete and significant results. Développement économique LaSalle is committed to this perspective and has the firm intention of working with all participants within the milieu towards concretely achieving each orientation and multiplying results targeted collectively.

Président
